Genus Information
Chlorophytum is a genus of around 200 flowering plants with the species Chlorophytum comosum native to Southern Africa the most commonly sold as a houseplant. Most widely known as the spider plant, it was very popular in the 80s and has experienced a renaissance in recent years. The NASA Clean Air Study named this species as effective at removing common household air toxins.

Light requirements
Chlorophytum comosum ‘Ocean’ prefers bright indirect light.
Watering requirements
Keep the top of the soil damp at all times through Spring and Summer, increase time between watering slightly through Winter months.
Humidity requirements
The Spider Plant can survive in areas with drier air but will thrive if they are in areas with higher humidity, an occasional misting will give a plant in an area with dry air a bit of a boost.
Growth
The Spider Plant reaches heights of up to 0.5m and is a fast grower.
Origin
Originally native to South Africa.
Flowering
Chlorophytum comosum can produce small white flowers when well looked after but are mainly kept for their foliage.

This Spider Plant has green foliage with an attractive cream edge.
